Filament formation via collision-induced magnetic reconnection – formation of a star cluster

چکیده
A collision-induced magnetic reconnection (CMR) mechanism was recently proposed to explain the formation of a filament in Orion molecular cloud. In this mechanism, collision between two clouds with antiparallel fields produces dense due tension reconnected fields. The contains fiber-like sub-structures and is confined by helical field. To show whether capable forming stars, we use \textsc{Arepo} code sink particles model star following CMR-filament. First, CMR-filament confirmed \textsc{Arepo}. Second, able form cluster after it collapses along its main axis. Compared control without fields, CMR shows distinctive features. CMR-cluster factor $\sim4$ smaller volume. confinement combination field gravity. has $\sim2$ lower rate. slower again surface that hinders gas inflow from larger scales. Mass only supplied accreting through streamers.

Star Formation Efficiencies and Star Cluster Formation
Starbursts produce large numbers of Young Star Clusters (YSCs). Multi-color photometry in combination with a dedicated SED analysis tool allows to derive ages, metallicities, EB−V, and masses including 1σ uncertainties for individual clusters and, hence, mass functions for YSC systems. The mass function, known to be Gaussian for old Globular Cluster (GC) systems, is still controversial for YSC ...
متن کاملEquilibrium Star Cluster Formation
We argue that rich star clusters take at least several local dynamical times to form, and so are quasi-equilibrium structures during their assembly. Observations supporting this conclusion include morphologies of star-forming clumps, momentum flux of protostellar outflows from forming clusters, age spreads of stars in the Orion Nebula Cluster (ONC) and other clusters, and the age of a dynamical...
متن کاملWhen Efficient Star Formation Drives Cluster Formation
We investigate the impact of the star formation efficiency in cluster-forming-cores (i.e. local SFE) on the evolution of the mass in star clusters over the age range 1-100Myr, when star clusters undergo their infant weight-loss/mortality phase. Our model builds on the N -body simulation grid of Baumgardt & Kroupa (2007). Assuming a constant formation rate of gas-embedded clusters and a weak tid...
متن کاملStar Cluster Formation and Star Formation: The Role of Environment and Star Formation Efficiencies
Analyzing global starburst properties in various kinds of starburst and post-starburst galaxies and relating them to the properties of the star cluster populations they form, I explore the conditions for the formation of massive, compact, long-lived star clusters. The aim is to find out whether the relative amount of star formation that goes into star cluster formation as opposed to field star ...
متن کاملThe effect of magnetic fields on star cluster formation
We examine the effect of magnetic fields on star cluster formation by performing simulations following the self-gravitating collapse of a turbulent molecular cloud to form stars in ideal MHD. The collapse of the cloud is computed for global mass-to-flux ratios of ∞, 20, 10, 5 and 3, that is using both weak and strong magnetic fields. Whilst even at very low strengths the magnetic field is able ...
